Park and urban pole luminaires

Pole Luminaires — The Right Light for Every Outdoor Environment

From garden paths to urban plazas to parking lots, pole luminaires are the workhorses of outdoor lighting. The right specification makes a space feel safe, welcoming, and considered. The wrong one just makes it bright.

Bullard Bollards offers three distinct collections — Garden / Park, Parking Lot / Urban, and Asymmetrical Pathway — covering every outdoor application from intimate landscape lighting to large-scale infrastructure.

Asymmetrical Pathway
Luminaires

A pathway doesn’t need light spread evenly in all directions — it needs light on the walking surface, and not anywhere else.

How it works

  • The optic is shaped to throw light to one side of the fixture, not in a full circle
  • The pole is positioned to one side of the path, with the asymmetrical beam aimed across the walking surface
  • Less light spills into adjacent planting, upward into the sky, or toward neighboring windows
  • Fewer fixtures are needed to light the same stretch of path compared with a symmetrical optic

Materials

Aluminum

Aluminum

The standard shaft and housing material; lightweight, naturally corrosion-resistant, easily powder-coated.

Stainless Steel

Stainless Steel

Used for hardware, fasteners, and select housings where maximum corrosion resistance is required.

Steel

Steel

Used for taller, higher-load poles, typically hot-dip galvanized as a base protective layer.

Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel

Hot-Dip Galvanized Steel

The base treatment for high-corrosion or coastal environments, often paired with a powder coat topcoat for protection and color.

Optics — Beam Angles

The optic controls where the light goes. Getting this right is what separates good outdoor lighting from wasteful outdoor lighting.

10° – 25°

Narrow

Accent lighting, tree uplighting, focal points.

40° – 60°

Medium

General pathway and garden illumination.

90° – 120°

Wide

Area lighting, open plazas, parking lots.

One Side

Asymmetrical

Light directed to one side only; ideal for pathways where light should fall on the pedestrian zone without spilling into adjacent areas or upward.

Questions & Answers

Match the height to the scale of the space. Garden and park paths sit comfortably at lower heights with closer spacing; residential and mixed-use streets need moderate heights at pedestrian scale; plazas and parking lots take the tallest poles with wider optics and higher output.

A symmetric optic throws light evenly in all directions. An asymmetric optic is shaped to throw light to one side only, so the pole can sit beside a path and aim the beam across the walking surface — less spill into planting, the sky, or neighboring windows, and fewer fixtures for the same stretch.

Yes. Light distribution and output are specified per project, and the range integrates with standard site control and dimming systems. Tell us what the project uses and we will confirm compatibility on the specification.

Hot-dip galvanized steel is the base treatment for high-corrosion and coastal sites, usually paired with a powder coat topcoat for both protection and color. Stainless steel is used for hardware, fasteners, and select housings where maximum corrosion resistance is required.
